Artists as Reconcilers

Painter Makoto Fujimora's International Arts Movement is sponsoring their 15th Anniversary conference in New York from Thursday, February 23rd to Saturday, February 25th, 2006 at Cooper Union, Cooper Square in New York City. The theme of the conference is inspiring:
IAM believes artists to be articulators of hope and integration in our broken culture, and yet we know today artists are known mostly for their rebellion, alienation, addiction and apathy. We aim to catalyze a movement of artists to be agents of cultural “Shalom.” The Hebrew and Christian Scriptures speak of Shalom as the wholeness and flourishing of human endeavors — possible through a true reconciliation between humanity, God’s universe and Him.
Keynote speakers include Patricia Heaton of Everybody Loves Raymond fame and her husband, Producer David Hunt, who has started a production company called FourBoysFilms.
